Artist's Statement

Lines---rhythms created through repetition: heavy and thick, heavy and thick,
now shorter, now lighter, heavy and thick; the form in front of me takes shape.
The grass begins to grow; my cadence removes me.  I am lost in lines.

Today, I find an eagle feather; a hawk perched on a pole.
My soul feels light; the birds inspire me, challenge me.
Their songs bring serenity:
here, I am safe; here, I am at peace.

As a girl, I could get lost in the motion of drawing feathered hair.
Drawing grasses and feathers takes me to this place in my mind that I love.

With newfound strength I find my way and discover the life I have imagined:
a slower pace, a lighter path, less to carry along the way,
so much sweetness all around, poised to soar.
